Day 1: CUSCO – KM 104 - AGUAS CALIENTES.
We will pick up the group from your hostel / hotel at 03:30 am to 04:00 am and then transfer it to the train station deollantaytambo, to board the train that will take us to Km. 104 on the train ollantaytambo- Machupicchu (at this point we will start our walk). We will reach km. 104 around 10:00 am. At this point, we got off the train and began our journey by crossing the Willkamayu River (Urubamba River) using a bridge (cable and wood). We start the walk visiting the famous Inka Sanctuary of Chachabamba, a beautiful palace with beautiful rooms and walls. After an adequate introduction of the Inca History, we will climb a trail of approximately 8 km (3 hours), and then we will arrive at the Wiñaywayna archaeological site (2700 m), in second place, only in beauty, Machupicchu. This fantastic site is a perfect example of the cultivation of Inca terraces, and was probably an experimental laboratory for agricultural purposes in the Inca period. The name Wiñaywayna comes from a name given to a beautiful orchid typical of the area, and means FOREVER YOUNG. Later we will continue our walk, crossing the cloud forest through a narrow path until we reach the Inti Punku (Puerta del Sol). In this place, you will have a great view of the most beautiful Inca Citadel of Peru, "Machupicchu". This is in fact a special point where most hikers gather to get the best picture of this sacred city.
Then we will descend towards Machupicchu and walk towards Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the night in the designated lodge. On this afternoon, the hikers had the option to visit and relax in the hot springs located in the upper section of the valley or just walk through the streets of this charming town.
Day 2: AGUAS CALIENTES –MACHUPICCHU-CUSCO.
We get up early and after breakfast we will take the bus that will take us to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu (20 min). Once there, our guide will show us the most important sectors of this great Inca city, such as the great Intiwatana (solar clock), the Temple of the Sun, the urban sector, the agricultural sector, among others, and provide an explanation. This tour will last approximately 2 and a half hours and then we will have free time to explore the ruins on your own or just relax. At 1:00 p.m. We suggest taking the bus to Aguas Calientes, bearing in mind that the buses will only take you down while it is full. In Aguas Calientes you can have lunch and then take the train back to Cusco, the train trip will last approximately 4 hours, so you will arrive in ollantaytambo to take the transport from ollantaytambo to cusco then your story will take your taxi.
